Fagan Engineers Supports Boy Scout Troop 2 to Clean Elmira Lackawanna Rail Trail

Elmira, New York – Cameron Heggie and Robert Fenton, Environmental Technicians from Fagan Engineers & Land Surveyors, P.C., scouts, and adult scout leaders, cleaned litter from 2.5 miles of the paved recreation trail between East Water Street and Wegmans. The community service project taught the scouts hands-on environmental stewardship and the importance and rewards of volunteering to improve the community and environment. During the cleanup, the scouts also flew camera equipped drones to view and record the cleanup, learn about recycling, and what can be done to reduce littering.

Chemung River Friends helped the scouts by providing the cleanup equipment and supplies.

Fagan Engineers Announces Small Unmanned Aircraft System (Drone) Technology

Elmira, New York – Fagan Engineers & Land Surveyors, P.C. (FE) is pleased to announce that three members of the Staff are now licensed to operate a Small Unmanned Aircraft System (sUAS or drone). President, James Gensel, P.E., Surveyor, Mark Flora, and Wetland Delineator, Jon Butcher have received the Part 107 sUAS (Drone) FAA license, in an effort to provide more value to Clients. FE is utilizing state of the art equipment to augment project development from initial concept through construction management with the latest in sUAS technology.

“The ability to capture high resolution aerial photography at the direction of our Licensed Engineers and Surveyors will provide a higher level of accuracy to our commercial, industrial and residential land development projects. The addition of sUAS licenses will ensure that FE is capable of reviewing project sites from every possible angle from site feasibility through construction and commissioning,” said James Gensel, President.

FAA Part 107 sUAS certification ensures that licensed sUAS operators are familiar with the rules and regulations required for responsible sUAS operation. Moreover, licensed FE Staff are well versed in Local, State, and Federal legislation regarding drone use in engineering and surveying fields, as well as upcoming FAA requirements with emphasis placed on National Airspace System considerations.

FE Staff is insured and FAA Part 107 certified for all aspects of commercial drone operation.

Tiffany Millerd and Christopher Karam of Fagan Engineers & Land Surveyors, P.C., along with his wife Kimberly and son Chris were among the many supporters of the United Way of the Southern Tier 2017 Annual Dinner.

FE Attends Airport Economic Development and Revitalization Announcement

Christopher Karam and Tiffany Millerd, of Fagan Engineers & Land Surveyors, P.C. met with Governor Andrew Cuomo after the announcement of the Elmira-Corning Regional Airport’s $58 million transformation, which will include $40 million in state funding through the Upstate Airport Economic Development and Revitalization Competition.

“We were privileged to have been in attendance for this momentous announcement, as we endeavor to strengthen economic development opportunities in the Southern Tier,” said Christopher Karam, Vice President of Business Development and Human Resources.

Chris Karam Appointed as Chairman of the Watkins Glen Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors

Christopher Karam, of Fagan Engineers & Land Surveyors, P.C. has accepted a one year position as Chairperson for the Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Mr. Karam was appointed to the position formerly held by Immediate Past Chairperson Carolyn Guyer of the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to Celebrate Opening of the Winfield Street Sidewalk

Fagan Engineers & Land Surveyors had the pleasure of participating in a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the newly constructed Winfield Street Sidewalk. The ceremony was held in the Town of Corning at the intersection of Sly Avenue and Winfield Street.

Spearheading the project was 10 year old Natilee Sellers, who attends Corning’s Winfield Street School. It was Natilee’s daily walk to school that influenced her campaign to have sidewalks installed along the busy road. Natilee’s outstanding commitment to the safety of fellow students and pedestrians was supported by the combined efforts of the local community.  

Corning Town Supervisor, Kim Feehan welcomed everyone to the event and offered a few words about the Winfield Street Sidewalk project. Chris Karam of Fagan Engineers was on hand to present Natilee Sellers with an Outstanding Youth Achievement Award for her exceptional service to the community. Joe Sempolinski (District Director for Congressman Tom Reed) and Rich Negri (City of Corning Mayor) attended the ribbon cutting as a show of support for Natilee’s endeavor. Also in attendance at the ceremony were project contributors, Glen Rose (GLR Services and Contracting), Mike Austin (Katie’s Concrete), Jim Smith (Crning Building Company) and Fagan Engineers (design services).

Tri-County First Responders Honor Park Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Fagan Engineers & Land Surveyors had the privilege to participate in a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony for the new Tri-County First Responders Honor Park, located in the Town of Erwin near the corner of South Hamilton Street and Forest Drive in the Gang Mills area. The park dedication ceremony provided a much needed opportunity to thank our courageous police officers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians, and rescue personnel for their continued heroic services throughout Chemung, Schuyler, and Steuben Counties.

The First Responders Honor Park was developed as a tribute to past and present first responders who risk their lives to ensure the safety of the community. Fagan Engineers donated survey and design services, which contributed to the overall design of the park. President of Fagan Engineers, Jamie Gensel, was honored to be one of the ribbon cutters for this event. Other ribbon cutters included Assemblyman Phil Palmesano, Dave Erwin (Erwin Town Supervisor), Vince Spagnoletti (Steuben County DPW Commissioner), Mark Cicora (Chemung County Fire & EM Director), William Kennedy (Schuyler County EM Director), Tim Marshall (Steuben County EM Director), and Don Creath (FRHP Committee Co-Chair).

Fagan Engineers is pleased to announce the completion of a very successful summer college intern program

Currently enrolled at the University at Albany as a philosophy and business major, Griffin Thomas assumed the role of marketing and business intern in May 2015. Primarily responsible for the completion of a comprehensive project coding enterprise, Thomas also made key contributions to marketing and social media campaigns, as well as assumed direct communication with clients and vendors on behalf of the firm.

Engineering and surveying intern, Jacob Coles, also joined the team in May 2015. As student enrolled at Alfred State College, Coles was instrumental in the utilization of GPS computer software for data export in support of the engineering and surveying departments. Coles received hands on experience which will benefit him in the pursuit of an engineering degree. A conscientious and responsible work ethic ensured that Coles contributed to safety in the field, per Safety Program Standard Operating Procedures.

Both Griffin Thomas and Jacob Coles possess outstanding qualities which contributed to the goals of the firm. Thomas and Coles demonstrated positive, ambitious, and flexible attitudes which will serve them greatly in the years to come. We would like to thank Griffin Thomas and Jacob Coles for their outstanding contribution to Fagan Engineers, and wish them all the best with their future endeavors.
